A huge amount of energy is used to heat homes. Much of it is either wasted or used inefficiently. Heating controls can help to reduce waste and demand, which in turn could mean fuel is used more sparingly. We have been installing Boiler and central heating controller wiring for over twenty years and, as such, are very skilled in this area. Pure Electric Ltd work with several local reputable plumbers and gas safe engineers.
Electrical faults within heating systems are common, and we are usually able to diagnose and carry out repairs quickly. Where the fault involves opening a boiler casing, we call in one of our Gas Safe plumbing and heating experts to assist.
These newer, green technologies require more electrical wiring than conventional systems. We have been working with these systems since 2010 and are confident in our ability to connect any system.
Perhaps your central heating system is a little more unusual. Your heating engineer may have created a masterpiece for you, which requires a little more consideration than a standard system. We love a challenge, and are confident that we can wire and connect whatever system you have – even if it’s a one off.
Central heating systems must be appropriately fused to the manufacturer’s instructions for all appliances.
Earth terminals, where provided, are for earth connection purposes only.
All earth conductors inside the programmer, and room thermostat, must be appropriately sleeved. The zone valves are Class I devices, and must be connected to a suitable earth.
As with all electrical equipment, a central heating boiler should be selected and installed in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions, as well as allow compliance with BS 7671 (regulation 510.3 refers).
In the case of electric boilers, the adequacy of the main incoming electricity supply to the premises should be checked before the boiler is purchased, or any installation is work carried out.
Main equipotential bonding, to incoming gas and water supplies, may need to be upgraded to the relevant standard and installed to BS7671.
RCD protection may also need to be installed to comply with the current regulations, and an electrical certificate produced.
There are two main options for supplying the circuit that supplies the boiler:
1. from an over-current protective device in the consumer unit or distribution board (see below).
2. from a switched fused disconnector or circuit-breaker fed from the supply side of the consumer unit (see below).
